Day 1: My Day

I ended up taking off a day early for vacation.  I really needed this day for me.  It started out wonderfully.  I slept in and was in no hurry to get moving.  I had a leisurely breakfast and then thought about what I wanted to do.

Rick had class and didn’t return until noon.  That meant that Sascha and I just hung out.  I did finally do some work around the house, but not much.  Rick and I went out for lunch and headed to the grocery store.  I had some things to get and he needed to stock up for the coming week.

I got home in the early afternoon.  So there was time to work in my flower beds.  I pulled weeds from the front along the house.  Those darn weeds seem to come up quickly and take over fast.  I guess it didn’t help that we had gotten some rain showers to help the process along.

I took a shower to clean up and Rich got home.  We were hanging out at home and eating leftover BBQ from Sunday.  Somehow, the leftovers always taste better a couple of days later.  We finished off the ribs and pulled pork that we had.  Then we settled in for the night.

I had been gathering things that we needed for the trip in the guest bedroom.  This was my staging area.  When I thought of something, I just added it to the pile.  Then it’s easier to pack the car by transferring from the bedroom to the car.  Rich still needed to pack.  I had been working on my suitcase for a day or so.  Guys are easier though.  Nothing has to match and they just throw it into the case.

The biggest things we have to get together are the electronics.  There is the GPS with its cables and power supply.  Rich has started a bag of cables, adapters, and other things to make it easier to handle all of the computers, phones, Nooks, and miscellaneous devices we like to have.  I borrowed the wifi hot spot from work.  This is to ensure I can get into work, if the need arises.  It always comes in handy for every need though.

Come Friday morning, we’ll just have to load up the car and get underway.
