<\/a><\/a>Monday started out extremely busy.\u00a0 My list of things to do was growing very rapidly.\u00a0 Work had a lot going on.\u00a0 Now that we are down one person, I’m twice as busy.\u00a0 We’ve figured out the logistics and we are looking for a new contractor.\u00a0 I hope we can find someone who is willing to learn the fast paced business of organizing an upgrade.\u00a0 Sounds like fun, doesn’t it?<\/p>\n
\u00a0Tuesday was our 19th anniversary.\u00a0 It doesn’t seem that long.\u00a0 We’re still trying to figure each other out.\u00a0 But I wouldn’t trade Rich in for anyone else I’ve ever met.\u00a0 Oh wait, there was that guy from this summer at Baker’s Beach.\u00a0 Too bad I didn’t talk to him though.\u00a0 Anyway, we went out to celebrate, just the two of us.\u00a0 Rick had class that night.\u00a0 There was an Italian restaurant across from Duke’s Alehouse in Crystal Lake that I keep seeing and never made it into.\u00a0 On this night, we walked right inside the door.\u00a0 It was half price bottle of wine night.\u00a0 Perfect for celebrating.\u00a0 The food was excellent and the wait staff was friendly and knowledgeable.\u00a0 It was a great time.\u00a0 Happy anniversary, Rich.\u00a0 Hope to have more years with you.<\/p>\n
On Thursday night, I met up with my friends, Kim and Diane.\u00a0 I convinced Kim to come up for dinner.\u00a0 Diane works up this way already.\u00a0 We met at The Village Squire in town.\u00a0 This place is known for their flaming cheese.\u00a0 You know, the Greek stuff where you shout, “Opa!”\u00a0 It was raining, so I got there first and waited until Diane arrived.\u00a0 We chatted about upcoming event and her recent wedding in Vegas.\u00a0 We finally called to see where Kim was.\u00a0 The rain and traffic were not being kind to her.\u00a0 She arrived after a couple of hours trying to get north.\u00a0 We had dinner and talked, talked, and then talked some more.\u00a0 It’s always good to meet up with your friends.\u00a0 Thanks, Kim and Diane, for a great evening.<\/p>\n
Rich saw a video showing someone riding their bike with a dog walking device attached to the bike.\u00a0 I thought this was courting disaster.\u00a0 I think Sascha could easily drag a bike.\u00a0 Rich ordered the device and it came in the mail on Thursday.\u00a0 Even with it raining, he set up the bike and took Sascha out for a trial.\u00a0 I guess she was very leery of the bike, but trotted right alongside.\u00a0 Maybe this is a good way to exercise her.\u00a0 As along as she doesn’t go off sideways looking for a squirrel.<\/p>\n
So on Friday, I had decided to work at home.\u00a0 I was running behind on getting some things caught up and delivered.\u00a0 These sorts of things are best done in the quiet of your own office where there are fewer interruptions.\u00a0 I was slowly grinding my way through documents, files, and postings.\u00a0 Unfortunately, I felt like crap.\u00a0 With the rain yesterday and the changing temperatures, I had a sinus headache that made my ears and my teeth hurt.\u00a0 I did manage to concentrate, attend conference calls, and continue to work steadily.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Around lunchtime, the DirecTV guy showed up.\u00a0 Since the late spring, our upstairs receiver and DVR has slowly been dying.\u00a0 The recordings were halting and hard to watch.\u00a0 The machine would sometimes say it only partially recorded something when it had, in fact, captured the entire thing.\u00a0 Or it would do the opposite and stop unexpectedly and not have recorded the entire program!\u00a0 Then the guide started to slow down so much that it might take 20 minutes before it would appear on the screen.\u00a0 In the meantime, you couldn’t do anything!\u00a0 I had had enough the other day and called for service.\u00a0 This very nice guy named Mike showed up.\u00a0 He checked the alignment of the dish and swapped out the receiver for a new one.\u00a0 It works beautifully.\u00a0 Funny thing is, I hadn’t noticed how bad the picture was on the TV until the new one was running.\u00a0 I have true HD again!\u00a0 Thanks, Mike.<\/p>\n
Then around 5:00, it happened again!\u00a0 I was working away when I heard a very solid THUNK!\u00a0 I ran to the back door to make sure Sascha was still there.\u00a0 She was, but she wasn’t alone.\u00a0 She was standing over a dead squirrel.\u00a0 This time she had made sure it couldn’t get away for definitely crushing it.\u00a0 Rick and I went out to clean up.\u00a0 Sascha had different plans though.\u00a0 She wouldn’t turn loose of her prize.\u00a0 I thought about Rose’s request for a picture of the dead animal.\u00a0 I sent Rick in to get a camera while I got gloves and a bag for disposal.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Sascha promptly walked over to my flower bed and nestled the squirrel in around the flower pots.\u00a0 Yuck!\u00a0 I garden in that area, dog!\u00a0 Rick came back out and got a picture of the squirrel.\u00a0 We got Sascha into the house finally.\u00a0 Time to clean up the bodies. Then I put him in the bag and tied it up.\u00a0 The entire time, the trees were alive with squirrels screeching and throwing down nuts at us.\u00a0 After cleaning up, we let Sascha back out into the yard, but she was upset that her prize squirrel was missing.\u00a0<\/p>\n
I just have visions of her getting to be very good with her skills and needed to clean up the yard on a daily basis. Why can’t the squirrels move out and over to the neighbors’ yards?\u00a0<\/p>\n
So we got a call from the contractor.\u00a0 The drawings for our proposed garage are ready.\u00a0 So tomorrow, we get to see the first cut and find out what this is going to cost us.\u00a0 The additional space and being able to separate Sally from the house would be great.\u00a0 The cost might not be.\u00a0 I’m kind of anxious to see what they came up.\u00a0 Not looking for to losing my yard or digging it up, but it would be nice.\u00a0 I’m just saying.<\/p>\n
So another weekend is upon us.\u00a0 I’m going to try and sleep in, even if Miss Sascha wants to chase squirrels at 6:00 AM.\u00a0 Have a great weekend yourself.<\/p>\n
