On Monday (11\/26), the building supplies appeared in the driveway.\u00a0 Trusses for the roof are lying in the yard.\u00a0 It was exciting to come home on Monday and see that things are really going to happen.\u00a0 The waiting was over.<\/p>\n
Rick called me at the office on Tuesday (11\/27).\u00a0 Two guys showed up first thing in the morning and started working on the walls.\u00a0 Between them, they seemed to move pretty quickly.\u00a0 I couldn\u2019t wait to get home after work to see what had been done.<\/p>\n
In the meantime, Sascha wasn\u2019t happy with the construction.\u00a0 She didn\u2019t like the noise from the saws and the air nailers.\u00a0 She goes out to do her necessary business, but comes right back in as soon as she is done.\u00a0 She not really enjoying her yard too much.<\/p>\n
By the time we got home from work, the framing for the walls was done.\u00a0 The crew were just cleaning up for the day when we pulled in.\u00a0 We went for a tour of the structure.\u00a0 The size of the garage was finally apparent.\u00a0 That large slab of concrete was taking on a life now.<\/p>\n
The two guys stood around in the yard for quite some time talking.\u00a0 They finally took off.\u00a0 They spent all day working together and then stood around smoking for half an hour.\u00a0 I wondered about that.\u00a0 Why would they just hang around after the job?<\/p>\n
On Wednesday, the crew came back again to work some more.\u00a0 The roof trusses went up and the structure continued to grow.\u00a0 When we returned from work, the walls had tyvek.\u00a0 It was really starting to come along.\u00a0 Once again, the guys stood around smoking and talking in the yard.\u00a0 They hung around for about an hour.\u00a0 In the meantime, we took a tour of the garage in its current state.<\/p>\n
Thursday was a special day.\u00a0 I took off for my birthday.\u00a0 It was a me day from start to finish.\u00a0 After a massage in the morning, I spent the day hanging out with the dog.\u00a0 I went out in the late afternoon to pick up my cake from Herb\u2019s Bakery.\u00a0 They have the best cakes.\u00a0 A nice, white wedding cake with butter cream icing.<\/p>\n
Originally, Rich and I were going to dinner at a nice restaurant a couple of towns over.\u00a0 But when I tried to call, I found out they were closed!\u00a0 Now where do we go?\u00a0 I thought about some of my other favorites, but nothing sounded good.\u00a0 Rich saved the day when we got home.\u00a0 He suggested Fritzl\u2019s.\u00a0 This is a very nice German restaurant that we haven\u2019t been to in a while.\u00a0 I love German food.\u00a0 After some liver dumpling soup and wiener schnitzel, I was happy to come happy to dessert.<\/p>\n
Oh yeah, and the garage for the day.\u00a0 I watched the guys climb all over the structure.\u00a0 At one point, I saw one guy walk about to the end of the truss over the porch and push another truss in front of him.\u00a0 I was so afraid he would fall.\u00a0 One guy applied plywood sheets to the roof while the other guy framed out all of the doorways and windows.\u00a0 They were enjoying their cigarettes and talking again when Rich and I left for dinner.<\/p>\n
During dinner, Pete the contractor called to say he would be stopping by.\u00a0 He was looking over the garage when we arrived back home.\u00a0 Turns out, the two guys working on the garage were brothers.\u00a0 They didn\u2019t talk much during the day and spent the hour or so after hours talking.\u00a0 I found that amazing that they didn\u2019t talk during the work hours.\u00a0 That\u2019s a lot of restraint.<\/p>\n
On Friday (11\/30), the roofer came out and finished off the roof.\u00a0 Now it\u2019s time for the building inspector to do his thing.\u00a0 Pete ordered the siding and it appears that the garage will have siding on Wednesday.\u00a0 Things are really moving on.\u00a0 This is so cool.<\/p>\n
Another Sascha story.\u00a0 The other day, I decided to take Sascha for a walk.\u00a0 It had been a couple of days since she had been out around the neighborhood.\u00a0 The weather had gotten too warm to take her scootering.\u00a0 Rich hadn\u2019t felt well enough to take her out with the bike.\u00a0 It was getting dark early, like it does at this time of year.\u00a0 I figured I could take her out and back before it was pitch black.\u00a0 Rich decided to join us.\u00a0 Sascha was in high spirits for a walk.\u00a0 We got around the corner and headed toward the lake when Sascha began dancing.\u00a0 I couldn\u2019t see anything, but she most certainly did.\u00a0 She began to bark in that high pitched cry.\u00a0 I still didn\u2019t see anything.\u00a0 Suddenly, Sascha lunged forward and about pulled me off my feet.\u00a0 When I regained my balance, I finally saw the two does up ahead in the grass.\u00a0 They took flight and Sascha was straining to join them.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n<\/a><\/a><\/a><\/a><\/a><\/a><\/a><\/a>
