I never got a blog posted last week!\u00a0 I think I just got so busy and only worked on it sporadically.\u00a0 Today, I plan to complete a blog for this week and last.Busy Weeks<\/b><\/p>\n

During the week, I feel like I can\u2019t think about anything but work.\u00a0 I do a lot of planning in my head.\u00a0 So I\u2019m not doing it, I\u2019m thinking about how it get done.\u00a0 We have lots of things that need to get done between now and May.\u00a0 I know who is doing the work now.\u00a0 I just need to make sure that things get done and work the way I expect them to.\u00a0 Luckily, I just don\u2019t have to do it myself.<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t have to track either.\u00a0 Beth, my PM, has her schedules and plans for getting things done.\u00a0 I plan and she executes.\u00a0 It\u2019s a pretty good thing.\u00a0 Without her, I wouldn\u2019t be hanging in there.\u00a0 I tell everyone we have to make Beth happy.\u00a0 Thanks, Beth.<\/p>\n

Rick\u2019s Nineteenth Birthday<\/b><\/p>\n

It was Rick\u2019s birthday on Saturday, the 9th.\u00a0 Nineteen years ago, we started on an adventure that continues today.\u00a0 Everyone who has kids has their birth story for the kids.\u00a0 We aren\u2019t any different.<\/p>\n

On March 9th<\/sup>, I woke Rich up at 6:00 in the morning to take me to the hospital.\u00a0 I let him take a shower first. \u00a0It had been a tough winter and the roads were really rough. Rich says I complained about the bumps in the road like he was hitting them on purpose.\u00a0 We arrived intact.\u00a0 Rick was born about 4 weeks early and after about 5 hours of labor.\u00a0 He arrived very fast and very small at 5 lbs. 6 oz.\u00a0 You wouldn\u2019t know that to look at him now.<\/p>\n

It was a good thing that we had discussed the name that we wanted.\u00a0 I was not really capable when the clerk came up to get the information for the birth certificate.\u00a0 Rich could have named Rick anything he wanted, even Zigmund Zelfried.\u00a0 The clerk did check with me before she filed the paperwork, just to be sure. \u00a0I was glad to see that Rich didn\u2019t try to slip one by me.\u00a0 Richard Andrew as the name we agreed upon.<\/p>\n

Birthday Celebration<\/b><\/p>\n

On Saturday, Rick and some of his friends got together to celebrate his big day.\u00a0 They first went bowling.\u00a0 It was back to the house for snacks and pizza.\u00a0 They were hanging out downstairs laughing, playing board games, and enjoying themselves.\u00a0 Sascha went down from time to time to join in.\u00a0 She was lying under the table as the kids played games.\u00a0 She was trying to beg for food, I\u2019m sure.<\/p>\n

Then, it came time for cake.\u00a0 We sang, \u201cHappy Birthday\u201d to Rick.\u00a0 Sascha got all excited.\u00a0 She has quickly learned that singing means she gets cake.\u00a0 She dances and can\u2019t wait for the plate.\u00a0 Guinness was trying to figure it out.\u00a0 Everyone, including the dogs, got cake.\u00a0 It was white and chocolate marble from Herb\u2019s Bakery.\u00a0 I think even Guinness enjoyed the cake.<\/p>\n

Furry Houseguest<\/b><\/p>\n

Oh yeah, who is Guinness?\u00a0 She is the dog for a friend.\u00a0 Jay had to go to Vegas for training and teaching opportunity.\u00a0 I had offered to watch Guinness so she wouldn\u2019t have to spend time in a kennel.\u00a0 Guinness is 13 and definitely an aged citizen with her white face these days.\u00a0 She is very small and dainty.\u00a0 However, Guinness sure tells Sascha what to do when she doesn\u2019t like something.<\/p>\n

On her first day, she is very cautious of everything and everyone.\u00a0 But the second day, she is a little more comfortable.\u00a0 By the end of the week, she was feeling more at home.\u00a0 Guinness and Sascha were lying across the room from each other at the beginning of the week.\u00a0 By today, they are only a few inches apart.<\/p>\n

Guinness has even learned a few new things.\u00a0 Going out here means getting to the back door and waiting to be connected to the lead.\u00a0 She has learned to wait to be disconnected before she can go into the house.\u00a0 Rich has included Guinness for the twist training sessions.\u00a0 Sascha has twist done and is working on refining her moves.\u00a0 Guinness is learning to go around for a bit of cheese.\u00a0 She is a smart dog.<\/p>\n

My Entourage<\/b><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve got an entourage these days.\u00a0 Guinness follows me around the house wherever I go.\u00a0 On the days I work at home, Sascha and Guinness are lying around the office while I work.\u00a0 They move around the floor, but stay pretty close.\u00a0 Now it\u2019s the girls against the guys.\u00a0 I\u2019m going to miss my girl, Guinness, when she goes home.<\/p>\n

Planning for Derby<\/b><\/p>\n

We\u2019ve started planning for the Derby Party.\u00a0 Rich has to still brew beer.\u00a0 It\u2019s just been too cold to be out there playing water.\u00a0 Hopefully, it\u2019ll warm up soon and Rich can turn the tap outside on to get water.\u00a0 We had planned on Wheat and Cherry Wheat beer.\u00a0 We do have some microbrews in the frig, but it just wouldn\u2019t be the same.\u00a0 We\u2019ll keep you updated on the beer.<\/p>\n

The weather had better get warmer is all I can say.\u00a0 Where is spring?\u00a0 I know the winter has been terrible.\u00a0 But I am so ready for warm weather and lots of sunshine.\u00a0 I keep thinking it\u2019ll be better soon, but the cold keeps hanging on.\u00a0 By May 4, it\u2019ll be warm, right?<\/p>\n

Well, maybe it hasn\u2019t been that busy over the past couple of weeks.\u00a0 It just feels like it. \u00a0I\u2019m hoping for a better week coming up.\u00a0 Alas, it will mean that one member of my entourage will be going home.<\/p>\n
