The previous weekend was beautiful.\u00a0 Rich decided to put that fishing license to good use and go down to the river to try his hand at catching something.\u00a0 Around here, the drum and other fish tend to run plentiful.\u00a0 Rich has been learning to fish for carp.\u00a0 These fish tend to stay toward the bottom and do not come up to the middle to see anything that floats.\u00a0 Also, they tend to be very picky about what they will try for.<\/p>\n

Rich has been mixing his own carp bait.\u00a0 It’s a secret recipe at this point.\u00a0 Something to do with cornmeal, maple flavoring and a lot of other stuff that gives it texture and flavor. It must work though.\u00a0 Rich has been successful in getting them to bite.<\/p>\n

Over the last few years, Rich has managed to catch a few.\u00a0 There was the story of the big one that got away though.\u00a0 I’m thinking that yes, it was a big fish.\u00a0 However, it might go the way of many a fish story and just get bigger and bigger with the telling.<\/p>\n

Not so with the fish Rich brought home the other weekend.\u00a0 As pictures show, one was pretty large.\u00a0 Rick had his feet in the picture for scale.\u00a0 Keep in mind, Rick wears a 13.<\/p>\n

After prepping the fish, Rich froze them until Memorial Day weekend.\u00a0 He fired up the smoker and cooked some fish.\u00a0 Not too bad either.<\/p>\n
