Addendum:\u00a0 I don’t know how, but I forgot to thank Rose for sacrificing her waterproof camera to get the shots in this blogs.\u00a0 Thanks for showing all the fun.\u00a0 It was worth the camera getting waterlogged!<\/p>\n

Sunday was another slow day.\u00a0 Rich and I went out to get breakfast burritos from Bill Miller\u2019s BBQ.\u00a0 Rose swore these were the best burritos around.\u00a0 They were pretty good.\u00a0 I felt old while we were there.\u00a0 Everyone was saying, \u201cYes, ma\u2019am\u201d and \u201cNo, ma\u2019am\u201d.\u00a0 Why can\u2019t my son be this polite?<\/p>\n

After breakfast, we made ready to go tubing.\u00a0 Rose picked out a place where we could get on the river in style and float the afternoon away.\u00a0 I drove up to Don\u2019 Fish Camp.\u00a0 Wait, fish camp?\u00a0 I thought we were going tubing?\u00a0 Turns out they do their biggest business with tubing.\u00a0 Driving in, we noticed that we were spelling it wrong all this time.\u00a0 The correct spelling is apparently toobing.\u00a0 Who knew?\u00a0 We got parked, paid for our admission, and boarded the converted school bus for the ride down to the river.<\/p>\n

The bus takes you up river a ways and then you float back down to where you left your car.\u00a0 We got four inner tubes and managed to tie ourselves together.\u00a0 We only had string to tie ourselves in a row.\u00a0 It worked pretty well.\u00a0 Rose had loaded a small cooler with drinks.\u00a0 There was alcohol for Rose and Rich.\u00a0 Lily and I made due with some non-alcoholic beverages.<\/p>\n

The river here was pretty quiet, but the current was moving pretty well.\u00a0 We were making good time and getting used to the way we had to navigate to get through the obstacles.\u00a0 The sun was shining and the day was great.\u00a0 We meet some interesting people along the way.<\/p>\n

At the first set of rapids, we quickly learned to raise our butts out of the water.\u00a0 This kept us for hitting rocks as we went.\u00a0 After that, the battle cry was, \u201cButts up.\u201d\u00a0 We navigated the calms, the hidden rocks and trees, as well as the banks of the river where you would get thrown into very quickly.<\/p>\n

The wildlife wasn\u2019t limited to the turtles on the logs where they sunned themselves.\u00a0 There were lots of young kids with coolers and loud music.\u00a0 Why would you play gangsta rap on the river?\u00a0 It was pretty disgusting lyrics, too.\u00a0 Rose just told Lily, \u201cNever repeat any of those words where I can hear you.\u201d<\/p>\n

We talked to one guy who seemed to have lost his group.\u00a0 He was a student up in Austin.\u00a0 He said his major was Therapy.\u00a0 We were worried about it being psychiatrics and he had heard too much from us.\u00a0 Turned out, he was going to do his Masters at the University of Washington.\u00a0 How cool that it was a state where Rose was from.<\/p>\n

Turned out, his buddies were on the beach ahead of us.\u00a0 It was his friend\u2019s, Sam, birthday.\u00a0 He asked us to yell happy birthday.\u00a0 We did and pretty loud.\u00a0 They all stopped to wave.\u00a0 Then they went right back to doing shotgun with their beers.\u00a0 Rich is banned from helping anyone do shotgun anymore.\u00a0 He\u2019s good at it, maybe too good.<\/p>\n

We continued on around the river.\u00a0 At one point, we hit rapids and threw Rich onto a rock.\u00a0 His tube broken away from the pack.\u00a0 We had to chase him down and get connected again.\u00a0 We continued on again and found a place where people were hanging out on some rocks.\u00a0 We pulled up on the rocks and took a break.\u00a0 Lily was sliding down the small rapids there.<\/p>\n

A guy was training his black labs to fetch.\u00a0 The dogs were so excited to jump into the water and get the toy.\u00a0 He was doing it one at time and the poor dog left behind was beside himself for not going after the toy.\u00a0 At the end, the guy lined them up and threw the toy.\u00a0 Then he yelled, \u201cEveryone.\u201d\u00a0 Off they both went to get the toy.<\/p>\n

Rose had noticed all of the trash along the river as we went.\u00a0 She wondered why no one did a clean up day to pick it up.\u00a0 She has a good idea.\u00a0 Left people take nets down the river and gather it up as they go.\u00a0 For every so many bags you bring back, you would get so much off of your next trip.\u00a0 It would be incentive to pick up and clean up.\u00a0 We ran into a couple dredging the bottom for cans and bottles and trash.\u00a0 They had several large construction bags with trash already.\u00a0 Rose talked to them for a bit about their efforts.<\/p>\n

We continued on down the river.\u00a0 There were more rapids, calms, and fast moving currents as we went.\u00a0 We ran into all kinds of people.\u00a0 We had some laughs with some and shook our heads at others.\u00a0 We finally came to the end and turned out tubes over the guy collecting them.<\/p>\n

We decided that Rose needs a MoBag for her tubing trips.\u00a0 It would have things like a waterproof bag for her camera, large carbines to connect the tubes together without the need for rope, sunscreen, coozies, and maybe some other things.\u00a0 Maybe a good gift.\u00a0 Hmmm.<\/p>\n

We headed back to the house.\u00a0 Decided that we were definitely hungry.\u00a0 We started out for Whattaburger and changed our minds to head to Taco Cabana.\u00a0 We got a bunch of foods and then to the house for dinner.\u00a0 We had our fill with what we had gotten.\u00a0 Unfortunately, we got shorted a couple of tacos.\u00a0 But we ended up with enough to fill us.<\/p>\n

Now I\u2019m getting caught up on my blogs for the last couple of days.\u00a0 It\u2019s trying its very best to rain outside.\u00a0 The temperature is coming down a bit.\u00a0 The car said it was 106, but Rose\u2019s iPhone said it was only 95.\u00a0 It was definitely hot.<\/p>\n

Rich got a little toasty crisp around some of his edges.\u00a0 The tops of his legs are burnt.\u00a0 My face is very red, but it doesn\u2019t seem to hurt much.\u00a0 There will be lots of lotion going on both of us tonight.\u00a0 Found some stuff with Lidocaine since you can\u2019t get anything very strong without a prescription.\u00a0 It\u2019ll fade in a couple of days.<\/p>\n

Tomorrow, we start the trek back home.\u00a0 Since our experiences through the OK state weren\u2019t that good, we are opting to head up 35 and into Iowa and then over to home.\u00a0 We know most of that way and it should be a good trip.\u00a0 Sorry to go, but it will be good to home again.\u00a0 I miss my Sascha.\u00a0 Oh yeah, and Rick, too.<\/p>\n
