Rich has graciously said that I could guest host my own blog right here.\u00a0 Welcome to my blog on urban mushing, or dog scootering.<\/p>\n

Back in July, we adopted a border colliehusky mix named Holly.\u00a0 We rechristened her Sascha.\u00a0 Over the last few months, she has warmed her way into our lives and our hearts.\u00a0 Hopefully, we have been able to repay the favor to her.<\/p>\n

When we met Sascha, they had told us that she had pulled a dog sled last winter as the lead dog.\u00a0 I thought that was really cool.\u00a0 Jason showed me a video of her pulling the team through the snow.\u00a0 She was really fast!<\/p>\n

In early October, we took Sascha to the Husky Howler to met up with her former caretakers.\u00a0 Gary was demonstrating the art of dog scootering with his dogs.\u00a0 I asked him to let Sascha pull the scooter and he agreed.\u00a0 When he returned, he had one word for her, “Phenomenal!”<\/p>\n

Rich and I discussed it on the way home and decided that I absolutely needed to get into urban mushig with Sascha.\u00a0 So we bought a scooter!\u00a0 Still waiting for delivery.\u00a0 I ordered towlines and a couple of harnesses.\u00a0 Still waiting for delivery on them, too.\u00a0 Surprising how many other people want to learn urban mushing!<\/p>\n

Gary gave my email address to a dog training location where he was teaching a class on\u00a0dog scootering on October 16.\u00a0 I jumped at the chance to do a formal class with him.\u00a0 I’m sure Sascha will be just as eager, once she finds out.\u00a0 Good thing is, she already knows what she needs to do.\u00a0 I’m the one who needs to learn in this case!<\/p>\n

So this is the start of my big adventures with Sascha as we begin to urban mush our way through the neighborhood, local state park, and other areas with a lot of ground to cover.\u00a0 I’ve asked to Rick video tape my progress.\u00a0 I expect to fall down and get pulled along a bit.\u00a0 Hopefully, we are up and running soon.<\/p>\n

I’m hoping this is the start of some fun posts and we can include plenty of pictures and videos.\u00a0 So follow along and do keep up as best as you can as Sascha and I go mushing along!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
