I know, I said the blog was going to be about Sascha and our new sport, dog scootering.\u00a0 Something else came up though.\u00a0 One of the storms this summer tore branches from the big Freeman maple tree in the front yard.\u00a0 One of those branches bent up\u00a0the gutter over the front door pretty good.\u00a0 Rich bent it back into shape, sort of.\u00a0 That bend along with the bend over the bay window meant we really needed to get new gutters.<\/p>\n
I called around trying to find someone willing to do the work.\u00a0 A couple of places didn’t call me back.\u00a0 I finally got one company to come out and give us an estimate.\u00a0 But then I talked Rich into changing the color.\u00a0 The original soffit and gutters were dark brown.\u00a0 My vision for the house called for a different color.\u00a0 So I called the company to get an estimate for the additional work.\u00a0 No takers.\u00a0 The guy never came by and I never heard from him again.<\/p>\n
I went back to trying to find someone to update the soffit and gutters.\u00a0 On my second try, I got a callback.\u00a0 I explained to this guy, Pete, what I wanted.\u00a0 Pete made arrangements to come by the house to provide an estimate.\u00a0 He arrived a little late, but enough to beat the falling darkness.\u00a0 After measuring up and writing down the numbers, we had an estimate.\u00a0 Then the sales pitch and pressure was on to sign up right then and there.\u00a0 Finally, someone who wanted the job!<\/p>\n
Yesterday was\u00a0Day 1 of the project.\u00a0 Two guys, whom I assume are Polish\u00a0from their accents, show up and start ripping things down.\u00a0 Unfortunately, the compressor they had with them\u00a0didn’t want to cooperate, so they left after lunch.\u00a0 Bright and early this morning,\u00a0they returned.\u00a0 All day, I heard hammers, saws, and air nailers as they put up soffit all around the house.\u00a0 It finally got late and they called it quits for the day.\u00a0 They promised to return in the morning.<\/p>\n
The Sascha connection in this story is that the Polish guys set up shop in her part of the yard.\u00a0 While they are working, I can’t put her out to sit in her yard.\u00a0 I’m hoping she doesn’t go into withdrawal if she can’t terrorize squirrels for a couple of days.\u00a0 Maybe they will finish up tomorrow and Sascha’s days will get back to normal.<\/p>\n
I’m just hoping my house looks nice and the gutters work better than the old ones!. \u00a0Then it’ll be on to step 2 in my devilish plans to improve the house!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
