Last entry for our trip home.\u00a0 We got up this morning to the sun shining in the windows.\u00a0 Every step takes us further from Memphis and the Blues.\u00a0<\/p>\n
So the drive from St. Louis area to McHenry was uneventful.\u00a0 We ran into snow along the way, but nothing on the road. We made it home in good time.\u00a0 Rich was texting directions to Rick for his chores and what to have done by the time we arrived.\u00a0 Can you say,\u00a0 “surly teenager.”<\/p>\n
Our concern was Sascha’s reaction to our return.\u00a0 Would she be happy or a little concerned.\u00a0 Turned out, she was overjoyed at seeing us come through the door.\u00a0 And, no, there were\u00a0 no bacon treats involved in her homecoming greeting.\u00a0<\/p>\n
So the laundry is done and the souvenirs passed out.\u00a0 We are quietly returning to the normal daily grind.\u00a0 I’m not looking forward to going back to work.\u00a0 I’ve enjoyed my week off.\u00a0 Well, kind of off.\u00a0 I did take a few hours and here there to help fix some issues since Jim had to leave unexpectedly for a family emergency.\u00a0 But hey, I was taking a break from all the walking.\u00a0<\/p>\n
I did call my voicemail to leave a message since my accent has almost returned.\u00a0 I had to do that before I go back to talking like this Northerners.\u00a0 It sounds funny, but I’m one of those people whose accent changes based on what I’m hearing around me.\u00a0 My original accent is heavily rhythmic with some southern pronunciations.\u00a0 Not a downright southern belle, but definitely accented.\u00a0 A few more days and I might have been mistaken for a Memphisean.<\/p>\n
Well, since I’m home again, I guess I’ll have to find something else to write about.\u00a0 Or take another trip!\u00a0 Wonder where to?\u00a0 By the way, I’m writing a blues song.\u00a0 The title is “The Peabody Duck Boogie.”\u00a0 Look for it record stores soon.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
