Wow, two days in a row.\u00a0 I usually have a hard time coming up with something.\u00a0 Thursday is my second day of the week to work at home.\u00a0 Tuesdays and Thursdays are the only days I actually get any\u00a0work done.\u00a0 I always seem like I’m away from desk or being asked to do something when I’m in the office.<\/p>\n
So this blog isn’t about me, but about Sascha.\u00a0 It’s a Sascha blog again!\u00a0<\/p>\n
Today was 34 with a good stiff wind, which made the wind chill down to 29.\u00a0 I thought it was a little brisk to be outside, but Sascha didn’t.\u00a0 I put her out for her usual 8:00 look around the yard.\u00a0 Only today, she didn’t want in.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
I kept checking on her to be sure I didn’t miss\u00a0her\u00a0request\u00a0to come in.\u00a0 Since she doesn’t bark, I wouldn’t know when she expect\u00a0the door to open for her.\u00a0 I would look out the kitchen window, but she was lying in the sun.\u00a0 Not just in one place either.\u00a0 She moved all over the yard.<\/p>\n
Finally, I broke for lunch and had to go out and make her come in.\u00a0 She was cold on the outside, but so warm when you ran your hands into her fur.\u00a0 How did she do that?\u00a0 Probably those hollow hairs that are not unlike a polar bear’s fur.\u00a0 My Siberian Collie was quite warm out.\u00a0 I was the one who was cold watching her!<\/p>\n
So after lunch, she went back out for another two and a half hours.\u00a0 She only gave it up because I decided to take her for a much needed walk.\u00a0 Sascha goes outside when she gets stir crazy being in the house too much.\u00a0 The walk is to wear off some energy.\u00a0 A tired husky is a good husky.\u00a0 Read in between the lines here:\u00a0 A tired husky is a non-destructive husky.\u00a0 Only Sascha has yet to destroy anything.\u00a0 I don’t give the opportunity.<\/p>\n
So on the walk around the neighbor, Sascha is pulling at the end of the lead.\u00a0 I should say this more of a pull around the neighborhood and not a walk.\u00a0 She has the instinct to pull so much, she tries to pull me.\u00a0 That’s why she loves the scooter so much.\u00a0 She can run and pull.\u00a0 These are just some of her favorite things!<\/p>\n
From start to finish, she is gasping for air and sounding like a bad asthmatic.\u00a0 I tell her if she stops pulling, she could breath.\u00a0 She doesn’t believe me yet.\u00a0 She’ll figure out that I’m right some day.\u00a0 Like with Rick, Mom can’t possibly be right.\u00a0 We’ll see though.<\/p>\n
We get back to the house and I’m frozen.\u00a0 My head is warm because I wore a hat, but my legs are chilled to the bone.\u00a0 I make hot tea and settle into the big red chair to warm up before I go back to work.\u00a0 Sascha gives me the big sad eyes and puts one paw on my lap.\u00a0 That’s the start you know.\u00a0 One paw, two paws, the whole dog.\u00a0 She curls up beside me.\u00a0 I finish my tea and let her know it’s time to get down.\u00a0 She’s not happy, but there is a patch of sunshine to lie in.\u00a0<\/p>\n
I saw a funny picture about that from a Facebook friend.\u00a0 There is a strip of sunshine on the floor and about 5 or 6 dogs in a line taking up space in it.\u00a0 The caption reads: “Death Ray.”\u00a0 Yeah, mine looks dead when she’s stretched out there, too!<\/p>\n
Rich came home and Sascha remained under the bed.\u00a0 I had changed out of my comfy slippers into jeans so we could go out to eat tonight.\u00a0 Sascha dove under the bed to escape capture and forcible detention in her crate.\u00a0 Like I said, I don’t give her the opportunity to be destructive.\u00a0 If I’m not home, she’s not free.\u00a0 She finally came out with some coaxing to tell Rich hello.\u00a0 She climbed into his lap to share her warmth.\u00a0<\/p>\n
I had the chore of getting her down and into her crate.\u00a0 She was not happy and expected Rich to stop me.\u00a0 However, he was hungry and quite willing for her to go to her crate this evening.\u00a0 Maybe there will be a reward tonight for good behavior.\u00a0 Wait, I don’t have any popcorn in the house!\u00a0<\/p>\n
Nothing much, but a couple of funny things to share.\u00a0 Good-night, Sascha.<\/p>\n
