day made for remote access. Not today. There was a meeting that I felt I needed to put in face time on and all of my minions are out. OK, I’ll saddle up and head out to the office today. I can always come home at lunch and remote access this afternoon.

Rich and I had to then decide who was driving which vehicle to work. We stopped short of rockpaperscissors to decide. Rich took the Honda and I drove the truck. Our rule is: Whoever drives the furthest gets the Honda. That was not me today. Besides, driving the truck is kind of cool. It reminds me of when I first learned to drive and I always got stuck with the truck.

Sascha was not happy about my leaving. She tried to stay outside again, but I forced her into the house. She came in and headed straight for under the bed! I let her stay there until I got all of my stuff together. After pouring the coffee into travel mugs, it was time to dig a dog out from under a bed.

I had to lie flat and almost crawl under the bed myself to reach her. It was a missed photo op. I got hold of a foot and started pulling. Pretty soon, there was a whole dog lying on the carpet. She was not happy even more. She was dead weight. I got her downstairs and into her crate with some minor issues.

Now to the important part. From the title, you can tell this isn’t about Sascha. It’s about Rick. I kissed Rich good-bye and went out to the truck. Without thinking, I jumped in, started up, and shut the garage door. I pulled out onto the street and realized I was almost at a full recline in the seat! What the heck is going on here?

I’m driving through the neighborhood to reach the main highway holding the steering wheel to sit up straight. I can’t figure out how to change the seat position! I find the back-to-front lever and can move the seat back a little bit. I’m having to drive supporting myself instead of having a comfy back rest.

I get out of the hood and up to the first light. Finally, I realize the side lever lets me adjust the back to move it up and provide me with support. I’m no longer hanging on to the steering wheel for support. I arrange all of the levers for the comfort level I needed to enjoy my drive into the office on a Friday.

So what exactly was Rick doing to have the seat in such a contorted shape? I know he’s tall, but he doesn’t seem to change the Honda this much. I thought about all those guys who look like they are driving from the back seat when I’m driving around town. It looks uncomfortable and I know they can’t see out the front window. They always have to lift up to look! Is this my son? Is he driving around in cool mode? Needless to say, we will have a discussion tonight!

So I get to work and find out that one of my minions actually showed up! I didn’t expect him at all. I didn’t have to come in after all! Now it is starting to snow and I’m rethinking lunch with Rich so I can get home before the rest of the crazies hit the road. Chicago does not drive well in the snow.

So if anything funny comes up from my discussion with Rick, I’ll let you know. But I definitely feel like I’ve done my exercises for the day.

P.S. Diane: We are not an independent test lab, so there is no more testing on the shoelace issue. We will continue to pass on the good news and have others try it though.

Usually, I try not to work in the office on Fridays. Fridays are
