I noticed on my phone this morning that I had a weather warning.\u00a0 I opened it to check out what could be causing the red exclamation point.\u00a0 Wow!\u00a0 It was going to be a good one.\u00a0 And we’ve had such a mild winter for Chicago.<\/p>\n

The report said that from 6:00 pm to 9:00 am we were under a Winter Advisory.\u00a0 Accumulations were expected to be 4 to 9 inches.\u00a0 Some ice was also expected.\u00a0<\/p>\n

I waited all day for snow.\u00a0 My desk at home is right next to the window and I normally watch the weather, squirrels, birds, and other activity out there.\u00a0 Right about 2:30, it started to rain, but it was light.\u00a0 Then my son came home and said it had started to snow.\u00a0 The next time I look out, there are large saucer-sized objects falling out of the sky!<\/p>\n

I ran outside with my camera to try and capture this.\u00a0 I’ve never snowflakes that large.\u00a0 I’m not sure I’d call them saucer-sized (as in cup and saucer).\u00a0 No, they were the size of a small cowpie!\u00a0 You could almost hear a noise when they smacked down onto something.\u00a0 They were huge!\u00a0 They were ginormous!\u00a0<\/p>\n

Rick came out onto the deck to get a closer looker.\u00a0 I sent him to stand under one to capture it so I could get a good picture.\u00a0 Darn, the only one he got was in his hair and it was hard to tell what it was.\u00a0 It might have been bird poop from an albatross by the size of it. I took a picture anyway.<\/p>\n

So we went back into the warmth of the house and stood at the front window watching these large, white, fluffy things coming down.\u00a0 They quickly coated the grass.\u00a0 After a bit, the size grew more in keeping with a snowflake that we all know and sometimes hate.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Sascha enjoyed the snow for a bit.\u00a0 I was surprised that she didn’t stay outside in the snow more.\u00a0 Of course, she had Rich at home all day.\u00a0 After attending a work event and staying a little later than intended, he decided to work from home today.\u00a0 Sascha was so happy to have her daddy around.\u00a0 She bothered him all day long.<\/p>\n

Anyway, Sascha continue to enjoy her favorite activity, lapsitting.\u00a0 Anytime someone sits down, she launches into their lap.\u00a0 I’ve been trying to train her to ask and launch only by invitation.\u00a0 So far, it’s not working.\u00a0 She is very self-centered and thinks only of her own comfort.\u00a0 She only gets down when you make her or she just gets too hot to take it anymore.<\/p>\n
