{"id":591,"date":"2012-02-28T20:01:35","date_gmt":"2012-02-29T02:01:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.zurekbrau.com\/blogs\/richsblog\/?p=591"},"modified":"2012-02-28T20:01:35","modified_gmt":"2012-02-29T02:01:35","slug":"fresh-from-the-pasta-queen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/zurekbrau.com\/blogs\/richsblog\/?p=591","title":{"rendered":"Fresh from the Pasta Queen"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is another Sascha story, I promise.<\/p>\n<p>Rich likes to watch Nadia G. on the other food channel.\u00a0 I have a hard time watching all of that going on and listening to the accent.\u00a0 Last week, Rich was watching Nadia and thought the recipe sounded good.\u00a0 That&#8217;s besides getting his entertainment value from watching Nadia jingling around the kitchen.\u00a0 I never wear that much jewelry in the kitchen.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, Rich decided to try the recipe.\u00a0 Now this is something I can&#8217;t pronounce, no matter how hard I try.\u00a0 It was Fettuccine with Salsiccia and Brisket Sauce.\u00a0 The sauce is very rustic with braiseed brisket chunks and Italian sausages.\u00a0 The recipe calls for making your own fettuccine pasta.<\/p>\n<p>The sauce wasn&#8217;t hard.\u00a0 That looked easy.\u00a0 Just browning things and then throw them together in the pan to bake in the oven for several hours.\u00a0 Now the handmade pasta is another matter.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t like making my own because I never do a good job.\u00a0 Rich, on the other hand, does a great job with pasta.\u00a0 We even own a Pasta Queen for cranking out your own.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Sunday afternoon, Rich brought the Past Queen up from the basement and went about mixing up a batch of dough.\u00a0 With the Queen anchored to the counter, he was ready to roll out the first sheet.\u00a0 He quickly cranked out the first sheet to the right consistency.\u00a0 On the way through the Queen, a small piece dropped to the floor.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I convinced Sascha that she should be a good\u00a0vaccuum and pick it up for me so I didn&#8217;t have to.\u00a0 She looked at it, pushed it with her paw, and finally gathered it up to take to the living room to figure out what it was.\u00a0 She continued to touch it, push it around, and lick it.\u00a0 Finally, she got up enough courage to actually try a taste.\u00a0 She must of liked it, because it was gone in no time.<\/p>\n<p>Sascha then returned to the dining room to see if there was more of this wonderful stuff lying around on the floor.\u00a0 Darn! No such luck.\u00a0 But wait, there was some coming out of the machine on the edge of the counter.\u00a0 Before Rich could stop her, Sascha reached up and took the entire sheet out of the Pasta Queen!\u00a0 Hurrying off to the living room again, she gobbled up the pasta.<\/p>\n<p>She didn&#8217;t see Rich take a swipe at her as she ran away with her golden goodness.\u00a0 I heard some choices names being yelled in her direction, but Sascha was so happy as she bounded out of the dining room.\u00a0 That was the last pasta she was going to get.\u00a0 Rich was very protective of the rest of the pasta going through the Queen and lying on the table to dry.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The result was worth it.\u00a0 The dish was excellent.\u00a0 It was great for dinner that night and for lunch the next day.\u00a0 Can&#8217;t say I liked the brisket, but the sausage was good.\u00a0 Just more brisket for Rich.\u00a0 No brisket for Sascha though.\u00a0 No more pasta either.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is another Sascha story, I promise.
