{"id":689,"date":"2012-04-19T20:02:54","date_gmt":"2012-04-20T01:02:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.zurekbrau.com\/blogs\/richsblog\/?p=689"},"modified":"2012-04-19T20:02:54","modified_gmt":"2012-04-20T01:02:54","slug":"touch-day-for-sascha","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/zurekbrau.com\/blogs\/richsblog\/?p=689","title":{"rendered":"Tough day for Sascha"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sascha had a tough day today.\u00a0 It started out this morning when I put her out for the usual patrol around the yard.\u00a0 Sometime after going out, a storm passed by close enough for her to hear thunder.\u00a0 I heard her run being pulled and checked out the back door.\u00a0 She was pulling the lead trying to get the collar over her head so she could get to the back door on the deck.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Poor thing.\u00a0 She had scattered the plastic chairs, her water bucket, and the stools from the wooden patio set all over the place.\u00a0 I stepped out of the door and grabbed her collar.\u00a0 She was so happy to see me.\u00a0 I lead her to the garage door where she normally comes in.\u00a0 About that time, thunder rumbled again and she tried to dash to the back door in the little garage.\u00a0 I got her unhooked and secured before opening the door and she promptly dashed in.<\/p>\n<p>Sascha&#8217;s normal place to hide is under Rich&#8217;s desk.\u00a0 She made a beeline for that location and got as far as possible under the desk.\u00a0 The entire time, she is panting up a storm.\u00a0 I almost thought she was rabid because \u00a0she was foaming so much.\u00a0 She would then take turns coming over to me for pets and slipping back into her hidey hole.\u00a0 The storm passed and Sascha fell asleep.<\/p>\n<p>This happened a couple of more times.\u00a0 She refused to stay out in the yard by herself.\u00a0 She would dash out to\u00a0do her business and dash right back in the house.\u00a0 I felt kind of sorry for her, except I was kind of busy with work.\u00a0 She was hugging very\u00a0close to me at times.<\/p>\n<p>Later this afternoon, I had an appointment at the vet with Sascha.\u00a0 The kennel was wanting an updated bordetella shot before we board her in May for vacation.\u00a0 Since I was there, I got the rest of her shots.\u00a0 She is all up to date again.\u00a0 The vet gave her a good physical and proclaimed her healthy.\u00a0 Sascha weighed in at 54 lbs. this time.\u00a0 It&#8217;s all that good eating to\u00a0keep fattened up for scootering.\u00a0\u00a0I&#8217;m thinking we should probably cut back a bit to keep her from going up in weight.\u00a0 She&#8217;s not fat\u00a0by any means.<\/p>\n<p>While we were at the vet, Sascha was behaving and sitting quietly.\u00a0 Someone brought in a Siamese cat in a crate that was crying a lot.\u00a0 Sascha&#8217;s ears went up and she zeroed in on that crate.\u00a0 Then the barking began.\u00a0 OK, so she can identify a cat very quickly.\u00a0 I knew she liked\u00a0small furry things, but now I know that cats are probably on the endangered species list with her.\u00a0\u00a0Panther, the neighbor&#8217;s cat, avoids her at all cost.\u00a0 Seeing a pattern here.<\/p>\n<p>After\u00a0getting 3 shots at the vet, Sascha settled into the ride back home.\u00a0 She&#8217;s not too bad in the truck.
